The SUNY Seamless Transfer Initiative enhances the existing SUNY Seamless Transfer policy and SUNY's leading transfer support programs. The initiative will introduce new high-impact practices and approaches to improve transfer admission, retention, and graduation.
At the direction of the Chancellor and the SUNY Board of Trustees, the Office of Student Success and the Office of the Provost partnered with the leaders of the University Faculty Senate and Faculty Council of Community Colleges to establish a Transfer Task Force charged with evaluating the SUNY-wide transfer landscape. The Task Force began its work in fall 2023, and assessed SUNY’s policies, procedures, and programs alongside emerging and prevailing national models to devise a next-generation approach to supporting transfer students and improving student outcomes.
The Task Force developed a report that provides 32 specific recommendations organized into 4 key objectives, which was unanimously endorsed by the SUNY Board of Trustees in fall 2024. SUNY will be taking up the recommendations and developing specific, aligned projects and transfer initiatives. The theme and campaign for this multi-year project is titled "Seamless Transfer. Limitless Possibilities."

The SUNY Seamless Transfer Initiative is a comprehensive, multi-year project carried out in collaboration with our campuses and governance bodies. After the Transfer Task Force completed its work and the recommendations were approved, the project moved into the development and implementation phase. Throughout 2025 and beyond, a series of milestones and launch events will take place.
