The SUNY Reverse Transfer process lets you use credits from a four-year SUNY campus to earn an associate degree at your former SUNY community college. If you transferred before graduating, you might be eligible for an associate degree now or in the future as you pursue your four-year degree at a SUNY campus.
Having a college degree makes you more attractive to employers, often leading to better pay and more career opportunities. The SUNY Reverse Transfer process helps you make the most of your education by applying all your earned credits towards the credentials you're eligible for.
• If something unexpected takes you away from college prior to completion of your four-year degree, it's good to have an associate degree in hand for the benefit of future employment opportunities.
• Having the associate degree in hand can pave the way for substantial career advancement, potentially resulting in several hundred thousand dollars more in lifetime earnings.
• By completing the SUNY Reverse Transfer process and continuing your education simultaneously, you can have two degrees in your portfolio, more accurately reflecting your range of skills and your achievements.
The SUNY Reverse Transfer process is for any current student attending a SUNY four-year institution or program who also attended a SUNY community college without having earned the associate degree.
• Your credits must have been earned within the last 10 years to be considered in the SUNY Reverse Transfer process.
• The SUNY Reverse Transfer process is not open to students transferring to or from non-SUNY institutions.
• You must be currently enrolled on a SUNY 4-year campus.
• You must meet the credit-in-residence / residency requirement at the SUNY community college to eligible for the degree.
By completing the SUNY Reverse Transfer application, you will authorize the former SUNY community college to review the courses you taken at the four-year institution and determine if the combination of credits earned at the community college and credits earned at the four-year institution meet the requirements for an associate degree.
