This course is designed to give students an understanding and working knowledge of the human services system and the role of the human services professional. Students will be introduced to the philosophy, goals, structure, organization and client population of the human services sector.
This course may be substituted for an Introduction to Social Work course at the four-year school and includes elements of the history of social welfare in the United States as well as the values, knowledge, skills, and fields of practice of the social work profession.
Core Courses are courses that fulfill lower-level requirements and apply to any transfer path major where they appear. Introduction to Human Services is universal course description, which maps to specific courses on SUNY campuses.
