Course Description

This course is intended for students contemplating a career in education. It is designed to provide an overview of early childhood education and the development of children from Birth – Age 8. Concepts of developmentally appropriate practice, the learning environment, teachers, diverse learners, classroom management, and issues facing all schools. In addition, students will be introduced to beginning principles of planning and become familiar with the New York State Learning Standards. 

Field Observation

20 hours of field observation is required.
