Continuation of General Chemistry I. Kinetics, thermodynamics and equilibrium, acids and bases, solubility, electrochemistry, and descriptive chemistry. For science majors and with General Chemistry I, satisfy the general chemistry requirement for Pre-Health majors. The course includes both laboratory and lecture.
General Chemistry I
Even though course descriptions describe what topics the General Chemistry courses are expected to cover, they do not specify how in depth the coverage of each topic should be nor the level of sophistication expected. A good guideline to address these issues is the full-year American Chemical Society Exams for General Chemistry. These exams represent the best consensus available regarding what theories and models the students should comprehend and problems that students should be able to solve at the end General Chemistry.
Core Courses are courses that fulfill lower-level requirements and apply to any transfer path major where they appear. General Chemistry II with Lab is universal course description, which maps to specific courses on SUNY campuses. Approved SUNY Transfer Path Core Courses are guaranteed to transfer to fulfill requirements in the major and/or required cognates (not just as electives) at all SUNY campuses if the course is completed with a grade of C or better.1 You may Search for Core Course equivalents using the Transfer Navigator.
1 While a grade of C or better is guaranteed, campuses can have different policies where they accept a passing grade lower than C. Pass/Fail courses may be accepted at the discretion of the campus, but transfer is not guaranteed.
