The transfer paths for engineering may include up to three campus specific courses that student should complete prior to transferring to achieve junior status.
FCH 223 / FCH 224: Organic Chemistry II with Lab
Three hours of lecture per week. The structure, properties and fundamental reactivity of organic compounds will be studied with emphasis on the reaction mechanisms and stereochemistry. In combination with FCH 221, this course provides a full survey of common classes of carbon compounds.
EFB 103 / EFB 104: General Biology with Lab
Three hours of lecture per week. Organization and function of living cells. Key topics include biological molecules, organelle structure and function, gene expression, cell division, metabolism, photosynthesis, cell signaling, genomics, and population genetics.
Advising Notes
The Chemical Engineering campus specific requirements prepare students for the BioProcess Engineering program and the Paper Engineering programs. Please note the distinctions between the programs below:
Students seeking to transfer to the Bioprocess Engineering program need to take the General Biology course.
Students seeking to transfer to the Paper Engineering program do not need this course.
Students seeking to transfer to the Paper Engineering program should take two technical courses.
Students transferring to the BioProcess Engineering program only need one technical course.
Choose from the following list of technical courses:
- Physical Chemistry
- Principles of Mass and Energy Balances
- Thermodynamics
- Probability and Statistics
- Technical Writing
- Fluid Mechanics
- Process Control
- Statics and Dynamics (Directed Elective)
- Mechanics of Materials (Directed Elective)
- Electrical Engineering (Directed Elective)
PHY 212 / PHY 222: General Physics II with Lab
Second half of a two-semester introduction to classical physics including electricity, magnetism and light.
Ecology Elective
Three-credit course that provides an introduction to basic principles of ecology as they relate to natural resources.
Approved courses: FOR 345, FCH 399, FOR 338, EAR 105, EAR 111, EAR 117.
Earth Science Elective
Three-credit course focused on the atmosphere, lithosphere, or hydrosphere.
Approved courses: FOR 345, FCH 399, FOR 338, EAR 105, EAR 111, EAR 117.
