Circuits I

Course Description

A basic course in direct current circuit theory. Concepts of charge, current and voltage; Ohm’s Law, Kirchoff’s Laws; analysis of series, parallel, and combination circuits; mesh and nodal analysis; Superposition, Thevenin’s and Norton’s theorems; maximum power transfer theorem; electric fields and capacitance; magnetic fields and inductance; analysis of R-C and R-L switching networks. The laboratory is coordinated with, and supports, the theory course.


Transfer Guarantee

Core Courses are courses that fulfill lower-level requirements and apply to any transfer path major where they appear. Circuits I is universal course description, which maps to specific courses on SUNY campuses. 1 While a grade of C or better is guaranteed, campuses can have different policies where they accept a passing grade lower than C. Pass/Fail courses may be accepted at the discretion of the campus, but transfer is not guaranteed.
