Childhood Psychology

Childhood Psychology

Course Description

The developmental psychology for childhood education and early childhood education programs should span birth to about age 12 so that the full B-6 cohort is addressed. It should be noted that few 4-year campuses have fully separate B-2 programs and many students in the schools with B-2 programs opt for joint K-6 certification.

The most common reason that Child Psychology courses are not currently accepted in transfer is the age span. A number of courses focus predominantly on the early years and do not cover to the age of 6-graders.

Transfer Guarantee

Core Courses are courses that fulfill lower-level requirements and apply to any transfer path major where they appear. Childhood Psychology is universal course description, which maps to specific courses on SUNY campuses. Approved SUNY Transfer Path Core Courses are guaranteed to transfer to fulfill requirements in the major and/or required cognates (not just as electives) at all SUNY campuses if the course is completed with a grade of C or better.1 You may Search for Core Course equivalents using the Transfer Navigator.

1 While a grade of C or better is guaranteed, campuses can have different policies where they accept a passing grade lower than C. Pass/Fail courses may be accepted at the discretion of the campus, but transfer is not guaranteed.
