National Transfer Student Week, introduced and organized by the National Institute for the Study of Transfer Students (NISTS), is observed annually during the third full week of October. The week is dedicated to recognizing and honoring the achievements and contributions of our transfer students. It also aims to build awareness about the unique challenges they face during the transfer process, and the diverse needs they have.
• To highlight the importance of creating a welcoming and inclusive environment on our campuses that recognizes the diverse needs and experiences of transfer students.
• To connect transfer students with the community, peers, faculty, and staff to foster a sense of belonging and support.
• To educate the broader community about barriers transfer students commonly encounter during the transfer process.
• To encourage campuses to review and improve transfer policies and practices to support transfer student success.
• To bring students, faculty, staff, and administrators together to recognize needs, challenge assumptions, build support, and improve the transfer experience overall.
